I’ve been a state school teacher for the last 5 years. So I’m determined to provide more opportunities for people across Chesterfield and Staveley to succeed.
But having had a Labour MP and a Labour Council for almost all the last 85 years, Chesterfield’s Town Centre is dying whilst Council staff are paid record bonuses.
That’s why I want to use my experience as a state school teacher to secure investment for Chesterfield and attract jobs to save our Town Centre. So I’m campaigning for 2 hours free parking, bringing back events like the Motorfestival and linking the Market with Ravenside.
Having been a teacher, I understand the challenges our local Schools face. That’s why improving local educational standards is a key part of my plan. So I’ll work with local Headteachers and Ofsted to improve discipline in our Schools.
Talking to parents and families across Chesterfield, I know how congestion is an issue. That’s why I am working with local leaders to upgrade the A61 and with the Government to deliver long-term solutions like the Staveley by-pass.
We’ve also got to work together to cut crime. That’s why I’m working with Derbyshire’s Police Commissioner to secure our fair share of Derbyshire’s 346 new police officers since 2019 – to keep local people safe.
I look forward to working with you to deliver more investment to bring Change to Chesterfield.
