My Plan For Chesterfield & Staveley

For almost all of the last 85 years, Chesterfield has had a Labour MP and a Labour Council. Local people tell me that Labour have taken our Town for granted - and have done nothing to reverse its decline.

As a state school teacher, I know some of the challenges that people are facing.

I want to work with local people and businesses on Our 6 Point Plan to revive Chesterfield after decades of neglect by Labour MPs and the Labour Council.

  • Improving Our Healthcare Services

Thousands of residents responded to my last survey demanding better access to healthcare. So we secured £24 million for the new urgent and emergency care department at Royal Chesterfield Hospital, helping to cut waiting lists.
  • Protecting our green spaces

By working with local residents and community groups, I will oppose the Labour Council’s plan to concrete over our green spaces. Together, we will preserve the idyllic countryside as a community adjacent to the Peak District.
  • Easing Congestion Around Chesterfield

By working with local leaders to upgrade the A61, we will cut congestion and make travel easier. Together, we can work on long term solutions to make progress on the Chesterfield-Staveley by-pass to cut journey times.
  • Improving Local Schools

As a Teacher, I’d work with local Headteachers and Ofsted to improve discipline and standards in our Schools. Through working with Government, we can attract further funding for our Schools.
  • Making Chesterfield Safer By Cutting Crime

By securing our fair share of Derbyshire’s 346 new policemen. I’ll work with the police to make our streets safer by holding regular forums with residents and police so you can communicate your priorities.
  • Saving Chesterfield Town Centre

The Conservative Government has invested £40 million to develop Chesterfield Town Centre. I’m campaigning for 2 hours free parking, to bring back events like the Motorfestival, to have a Christmas Market and for a link between the Market and Ravenside to save our Town Centre.
